　　　氮封阀无需外加能源，利用被调介质自身能量为动力源。自动控制阀门介质流量，使阀后压力保持恒定的压力稳定装置。阀门自己内部通过阀芯、膜片、弹簧等机械元件的互相作用来稳定出口处P2的压力。工作过程：当入口P1的压力升高时，出口P2压力会有随之升高的趋势，P2压力的微笑升高会透过膜片作用到下面大的气室里，在大膜片的放大作用下，弹簧会被压缩，则与弹簧相连的阀芯会向减小阀门开度的方向运动，这样就减少了流量和出口压力P2，从而达到了出口P2稳压的目的；反之亦然。氮封阀是精确的毫巴级调压阀，相对于出口压力大的压力调节阀它的膜片会大的多，拿德国Mankenberg的减压阀DM762为例，762的膜片直径范围从220mm到500mm，出口稳压的范围相应的由0.015-0.030bar到0.1-0.52bar精确至0.002-0.003bar到0.012-0.07bar,可见膜片越大出口压力实现的稳压值越小。一般氮封阀都有控制管和泄漏管。控制管可以提高阀门的灵敏度，而泄漏管是预防膜片破裂后介质泄漏到弹簧空间内，泄漏管可以将介质送回合适的储存空间而不是排入空气。另外当通径大、流量大时可以采用先导式组合氮封阀，一般用在大型储罐上。先导式氮封阀是由溢流阀、毫巴减压阀、过滤器和截止阀等组合而成的。这里还是以德国Mankenberg公司生产的RP840先导式氮封阀为例说明。 RP840是由一个溢流阀DV5.1、一个减压阀DM762、2个节流阀和一个过滤除尘器组成。 DV5.1可以保证罐内一个背压，当罐内氮气减少压力下降时，DM762向罐内补充氮气；当罐内液面上升，氮气被压缩压力增大时，DV5.1会在设定的安全压力点向外泄放氮气，但是会保证罐内一个背压，罐内压力达到设定点以下DV5.1就会关闭。
